Sky Stream Apps. With the release of the Sky Stream puck, Sky TV has changed the way people watch television by offering exclusive live TV. It also provides on-demand entertainment and popular streaming apps all together in one simple set top box. Rather than the monotony of switching between different devices, the new Sky Stream box or puck as it’s known lets customers search across many of their favourite apps from one place.

 

 

What apps are available on Sky Stream?

Sky Stream supports a wide selection of popular streaming services. These include BBC iPlayer, ITV X, CH4 , FIVE Player, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Hayu, UKTV and HBO Max. Additionally, it offers Sky’s own entertainment, movies and sports services.

There are also UK catch-up and free-to-watch services available through compatible Sky TV platforms, giving viewers access to a broad range of television and on-demand content.

Netflix on Sky Stream

Netflix is integrated into the Sky Stream experience, making it easy to search for Netflix programmes alongside other content. Depending on your Sky package, Netflix may already be included. Furthermore, customers can also upgrade their Netflix plan if they want additional features such as ad-free viewing or Ultra HD.

 

 

Disney+ and other premium streaming apps

Disney+ is another major addition to Sky Stream. Sky Ultimate TV currently includes Disney+ Standard with Ads, while customers can choose other Disney+ options if they want a different level of service. Existing Disney+ customers can also link their account to Sky.

Sky Stream also supports services such as Amazon Prime Video and Paramount+, giving households more choice without needing a separate streaming stick for each service.

Are the apps included with Sky Stream?

This is an important distinction. Having an app available on Sky Stream does not necessarily mean its subscription is included in your Sky package.

Some services are included with particular Sky TV packages. For example, Sky currently advertises Netflix and discovery+ with its Entertainment TV package. Additionally, services including Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu are available. Other services may require their own subscription. For example, Amazon Prime.

Why are additional apps useful?

The biggest advantage is convenience. Instead of having a separate streaming stick or switching between several HDMI inputs, Sky Stream brings compatible services together in one interface.

You can search for a film, programme, actor or genre and Sky can show results from across the services available to you. As a result, this makes it easier to discover content without having to remember which streaming service has it.

How do I view these services?

Sky Stream has become more than a traditional TV box. With support for major streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, discovery+, Paramount+, Hayu and HBO Max, it can act as a central hub for entertainment in the home.
